The problem it solves
Diamond painting and bead embroidery use dozens of very similar shades, supplied in small bags that split and tip over. A box with fixed cells and an attached lid removes both risks: nothing spills when the box falls, and nothing migrates from cell to cell when it is moved.
Choosing the right number of cells
Few but wide cells for beads several millimetres across, or many small cells for calibrated rhinestones. The six formats exist to avoid buying thirty cells when you fill eight — and the reverse, which forces two shades into one cell.
